About the artist

Zhao Xiaosu (b.1952) was immersed in the traditional arts in this cultural hub Kaifeng, where he began his life and career in publishing honed his skills in fine arts.

His work Untitled” received the worldwide prestigious Yomiuri Shimbun Award for the provocative depiction of a modernising China - A style he perfected over the decades by combining traditional Chinese painting and cartoon, with a touch of Buddhist philosophy that enables us to gain a glimpse of the art reality.

He depicts society, culture and economy through his unique style in his collections of published illustrations. 

A member of the China Artists Association and Guangdong Provincial Research Fellow in History and Culture, he resides in Guangdong, continuing to bridge ancient traditions with contemporary discourse.
